Care House

Care House in San Diego is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, operating since 1986 to serve the
city's underserved and unhoused youth. These are often children who struggle with
food insecurity, lack of resources, or academic challenges because of poverty or
homelessness. Its mission is to support them by providing basic needs, educational support, and encouragement.

 

Programs and services include:

• Basic necessities (Food distribution, clothing assistance, emergency aid)

• Education and youth support (Tutoring and literacy support, incentives to

         encourage school attendance, academic help for students who have fallen behind)

• Community programs (Holiday toy drives, summer camps and youth activities)

 

In order to offer these essential services, Care House relies essentially on private
donations.

region faces a combination of high housing costs, rising homelessness, and thousands
of vulnerable students who lack basic needs. These factors create gaps that nonprofits
